At the University of Hohenheim you learn how to jump back and forth between agricultural science, natural science, and business and economics. You learn how to look at value chains at their origins (agricultural production) without ignoring ecology and economics.
The degree program NawaRo educates system thinkers who can work with engineers, chemists, politicians, and farmers and understand all aspects of bioeconomy. You can call it a holistic approach or just: ‘a degree program like a Swiss army knife’!”

“What I found best about my studies was project work on drying in a solar tunnel dryer with Mr. D. Argyropoulos and Mr. K. Meissner. I think a few more technical subjects like plant design are missing, although then you quickly get into the area of mechanical engineering / process engineering.”

Benedikt Sedlbauer
I now work with:
Self-employed work, production and (whole)sale of biomass such as firewood / wood chips, company was founded in 2011 during my studies. Currently planning a Pyreg facility to produce biochar from biomass, especially waste materials from production.
My position is:
Operations Manager, coordination of production processes and personnel scheduling. Many diverse tasks from delivery of the products to the client up to working in my own workshop, improving machines, repairs, etc. As the company has grown, my work has become more and more of an office job.
What has helped me most from my studies:
“The variety of topics is really interesting. Certain topics were only mentioned, but they expanded my horizons when it came to my company, and years later I was able to develop them into successful business models. Other topics that were just as important like business were taught in detail. For some students that was torture during our studies, but in later professional life - depending on your area - it can be absolutely essential and very helpful! I can recommend this degree program without reservations. Because of how diverse it is, you can choose many different career paths after completing it.”
