Global Rice Science Scholarships (GRiSS) [17.11.14]
GRiSS is implemented under the IRRI-led Globald Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP), which coordinates global research efforts on rice.The GRiSS offers young agricultural scientists about to enroll or conduct their Ph.D. research the opportunity to be the new generation of rice scientists - experts in a scientific discipline and have a well-rounded understanding of the broader issues of rice science for development. More than 50 research topics that fall under the sic GRiSP themes ar offered as options for Ph.D. research. The themes are the following:
- Theme 1: Harnessing genetic diversity to chart new productivity, quality, and health horizons
- Theme 2: Accelerating the development, delivery, and adoption of improved rice varieties
- Theme 3: Ecological and sustainable management of rice-based production systems
- Theme 4: Extracting more value from rice harvests through improved quality, processing, market systems and new products
- Theme 5: Technology evaluations, targeting and policy optios for enhanced impact
- Theme 6: Supporting the growth of the global rice sector
