Beschreibung

A considerable part of the fruit harvest in Northern Thailand is dried in small scale food processing industries for preservation and post-harvest value-addition. However, energy consumption is high and product quality is heterogeneous. Objective of the transfer project is to improve drying facilities jointly with a manufacturer by using the simulation tools developed in subproject E1 of SFB 564. To reduce energy costs, fossil fuel will be replaced by biomass and biogas by integration of combustion units. For optimizing the entire drying process, prototypes will be tested with farmer cooperatives in a participatory approach.
