Lab Manager/Lecturer (TV-L 13, 80-100%) - Sustainability in Agri-Food Systems (f/m/d)

The University of Hohenheim's Department for Sustainable Use of Natural Resources is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lab Manager/Lecturer to join our dynamic team. Our work aims to apply sustainability science to the agri-food system, striving to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. As a Lab Manager/Lecturer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our cutting-edge research and ensuring the smooth operation of our work, as well as contribute to the diverse teaching portfolio of our department.

Our department focuses on understanding and improving the ways we produce, distribute, and consume food to create a more just and sustainable agri-food system. We are not only interested in the question of what sustainability means in the agri-food system but also in how we can transform the agri-food sector towards sustainability. We strive for our research to be as actionable and societally relevant as possible. This includes projects like Agroecology4Climate and Bright Spots, which explore the relationships between food production, ecosystems, and societal well-being. We use innovative participatory, qualitative and quantitative methods in our research and we work across disciplines like geography, land system sciences, sustainability sciences, agricultural sciences, ecology and sociology.

In our teaching we are committed to fostering a learning environment that empowers students to become transformational sustainability leaders. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes developing critical thinking skills, navigating complex systems, and developing sustainability competencies. We aim to spark a desire in every student to contribute to a more sustainable society, preparing them to pose the right questions, rigorously analyze problems, and draw appropriate conclusions from the evidence provided, as well as learning how to contribute to the complex negotiations.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a diverse and dynamic team of academic change-makers, contribute to impactful research projects, as well as teach future change-makers and thereby drive advancements in sustainable practices within the agri-food system. If you are passionate about sustainability and have a strong background in research coordination and teaching, we invite you to apply and become a part of our team.
