Abstract

Methanol exts. of a no. of tropical and subtropical plants, such as Ailanthus altissima, Acanthospermum hispidum, Heritiera littoralis, and seed cake of Azadirachta indica (neem cake), were tested for antifeedant, insecticidal, insect growth regulating (IGR), nematicidal, bactericidal, and fungicidal activity. Antifeedant activities towards Epilachna varivestis were obsd. with the Ailanthus, Acanthospermum, Heritiera, and neem cake exts. resp., IGR activities were found in addn. with Ailanthus and neem cake exts. Bactericidal and fungicidal effects were obsd. with exts. from A. hispidum. Isolation, structure, and biol. activity of some of the active principles was also reported.
