Abstract

Photolysis of cyclic enaminones, e.g., I (n = 1, 2; R = H, Me) prepd. by the condensation of 1,3-cyclohexanediones with corresponding amines, was studied. Photolysis of I (n = 2; R = H, Me) gave aza-De Mayo products II as expected, whereas photolysis of I (R = Me, n = 1) gave photo-aza-Claisen rearrangement product III. Photolysis of cyclohexenylmethylaminocyclohexenones gave both photo-aza Claisen products along with aza-De Mayo product.
