Partner universities also receive top places
The environment in which the University of Hohenheim finds itself in the ranking is also encouraging. It has joined forces with five leading European universities in the field of bioeconomy in the European Bioeconomy University (EBU) network. Four of the partners - Wageningen University in the Netherlands, AgroParisTech in France, the University of Bologna in Italy, and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna in Austria - are the best in their respective countries in the field of agricultural research.
The seven best in Europe include Wageningen University (Netherlands), the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), and the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). The University of Hohenheim is closely linked to these universities through the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS). This network focuses on joint study programs and intensive exchange of students and lecturers.
The non-European ELLS partner China Agricultural University (CAU, China) is ranked 7th in the world. The University of Hohenheim has been cooperating with CAU for around 40 years, including in the form of a German-Chinese research training group since 2018.
