"End underfunding": Approximately 3,500 students from Baden-Württemberg demonstrated in Stuttgart today in support of adequate funding for universities. The state's current offer is far from sufficient. Also present: the student body of the University of Hohenheim and President Stephan Dabbert. They are warming up for a nationwide day of action on 30 October.

It was probably no coincidence that the state put the hot phase of negotiations on the future financing of the universities in the lecture-free period. The students and presidents are not satisfied with the result, which is now to go to the state parliament for the first reading.

There have been some concessions on the part of the state. However, these fall far short of the demands of the universities. For better supervision, digitalization, research equipment, the continuation of successful projects such as Humboldt reloaded, and more permanent mid-level positions, they demand an additional €100 million per year.

Today, around 3,500 students have responded to a protest appeal by the Medical Student Council at the University of Tübingen. University President Stephan Dabbert also shares the concerns of the demonstrators and spoke on the podium.

Today's demonstration was the prelude to further protest actions. A nationwide day of action is planned for 30 October. The University of Hohenheim also wants to take part. Further information will soon be available in the Online Courier.
