Just in time for the start of the winter semester, the last renovation work on the new residence hall at Welfenstraße 80 was completed - and 52 students are currently moving into their new homes. Last winter semester, 153 students moved into two of the three houses of the newly built residential complex at Egilolfstraße 41-45. House 3 with 100 additional rooms was completed at the beginning of April 2019. Today the Studierendenwerk officially celebrated its inauguration.

"The increasing demand for affordable and attractive living space is still very high due to the competitive housing market. We are pleased to be able to expand our housing offer for students with the completion of the residential complexes," said Oliver Schill, Managing Director of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim.

Both residence halls supplement the accommodations available to students at the University of Hohenheim: the Studierendenwerk now offers the almost 10,000 students around 1,300 places in residence halls.

The residential complex, which was completely renovated and converted in 2018/2019, is located in the immediate vicinity of other residence halls at the university's sports facilities. The costs for the renovation of the guest house on the former area of the academy of the Baden-Württemberg cooperative association amount to 4.5 million euros.

In the building there are 11 single apartments, 2 handicapped accessible apartments, 5 double apartments, one 3-person apartment, two 5-person apartments, one 7-person apartment, and one 9-person apartment. In the basement there is an underground car park with 31 parking spaces for cars and 30 parking spaces for bicycles.
