State Awards Quality Conceptualization for Doctoral Student Education [25.11.15]
The University of Hohenheim strengthens its education of doctoral candidates with its own conceptualization for quality assurance and development / prize money over 100,000 euros
Better organization, binding regulations for quality assurance, and a strong voice for those affected: with these aspects, the University of Hohenheim’s quality concept for its doctorate education program convinced the decision-makers in the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts (MWK) Baden-Württemberg. In the competition of ideas on “quality assurance and quality development in doctoral programs,” Minister of Science Theresia Bauer presented the University with first place. President Prof. Dr. Dabbert intends to use the prize money of 100,000 euros to support young scientists.
A hallmark of the University of Hohenheim’s quality concept is that it includes all areas of doctoral studies in all parts of the University. This includes:
• Organizational quality assurance
• Subject-area quality assurance
• Strong voice for doctoral candidates with the Graduate Council as representation for all doctoral candidates.
• More than 30 additional measures
The University of Hohenheim published its commitment to an improved doctoral education in 2013 in its strategy paper for the next 5 years, the so-called Structural and Development Plan. It developed its concept for the central Graduate Academy together with doctoral candidate representatives.
