Award goes to University of Hohenheim for "Seminar on Demand"

The Stifterverband, which is the business community's innovation agency for the German science system, has awarded its "Hochschulperle" prize for the month of May to the University of Hohenheim for the project "Seminar on Demand". The University, as part of its continuing education programme, allows students to provide input concerning the curriculum. The association recognised this initiative for its innovation and exemplary character. This was indeed the second time the University received this award. Read the full article (in German).

Press Conference Skyfarming: Researchers unveil 1:333 model for rice farming in skyscrapers

Less loss of harvests, shorter transport routes, carbon-neutral cultivation with higher yields: these are the goals being pursued by the University of Hohenheim with the project Skyfarming. The core idea is a highly-efficient system for cultivating rice in a high-tech skyscraper. A 1:333 model of the building has been unveiled to demonstrate how such a building might look. From June 1st to October 15th it will be on tour on the ship "MS Wissenschaft" throughout Germany. Read the full article (in German).

Clarity of Top Managers: Daimler boss Zetsche still on top - even with moderate ratings

Concerning clarity of speech, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has so far received the best marks for his speeches, achieving 6.1 out of a possible 10 points- a roughly average score. Prof. Dr. Frank Brettschneider of the University of Hohenheim has been monitoring the chief executives of the 30 biggest German firms since the beginning of this year.
