Information Systems at Stuttgart Universities in the Top Five  [15.06.21]

The Information Systems degree programs jointly offered by the Universities of Hohenheim and Stuttgart prepare graduates well for their professional life.

Excellent career prospects: If you have studied the joint degree program Information Systems at the Universities of Hohenheim and Stuttgart, you can have high hopes when you start looking for a job. In the current university ranking of the Wirtschaftswoche, the alumni of this subject are in the top five of the university ranking. It is based on a nationwide survey of around 500 HR managers. Graduates of Information Systems are ranked 4th in terms of popularity. The complete ranking appeared on May 31, 2021.


For Wirtschaftswoche’s university ranking, the consulting company Universum asks human resource officers every year which universities and universities of applied sciences prepare students best for professional life. The survey includes both public and private universities.

The result: Graduates from the Information Systems degree programs, offered jointly by the University of Hohenheim and University of Stuttgart, were in 4th place nationwide. One of the most important criteria in the selection process for HR managers is practical relevance. First place in the subject Information Systems was taken by the Technische Universität München.

The subjects surveyed were industrial engineering, information systems, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, law, natural sciences, and economics and business administration. The respondents were able to name several universities and universities of applied sciences per subject.


BACKGROUND: Business Administration and Economics programs at the University of Hohenheim

The University of Hohenheim offers six Bachelor’s programs, nine Master’s programs, and one doctorate program in "Economics" in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.

Information Systems (
www.winfohost.de) stands out due to an excellent student to faculty ratio, modern teaching methods, and its interdisciplinarity. This enables interactive and practical teaching that offers many points of intersection with the companies in the Stuttgart region. The Bachelor's program is offered by the University of Stuttgart and the Master's by the University of Hohenheim.

In Hohenheim, the Bachelor’s level economics and business degree programs include Digital Business Management, Communication Science, Sustainability & Change, Information Systems (in cooperation with the University of Stuttgart), Education for Business and Economics, and Business Administration and Economics.

The Master’s programs include Economics, International Business and Economics, Management, Information Systems (in cooperation with the University of Stuttgart), Education for Business and Economics, Finance (part-time), Communication Management and Analysis, and Bioeconomy (with the Faculties of Agricultural and Natural Sciences).

There are currently almost 4,700 students (winter semester 2020/2021) enrolled at the University of Hohenheim in the economics and social science programs. This means that more than half of the University of Hohenheim's students are studying economics and social sciences.
