CEWS University Ranking:
University of Hohenheim remains in 1st place for gender equality in the state of Baden-Württemberg  [22.06.23]

State universities are catching up: Currently, a total of 4 state universities are ahead in the advancement of women, according to the 11th evaluation of the Center of Excellence Women in Science and Research (CEWS)

The proportion of women among researchers is growing, once again giving the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart a top place in this category in the state. Overall, the University of Hohenheim placed in the top group in two of six categories, and in the midfield in four others. The Universities of Heidelberg, Freiburg, and Tübingen can boast comparable successes. The rankings are based on an evaluation by the Center of Excellence Women in Science and Research (CEWS) for the 11th CEWS University Ranking. The study ranks the absolute percentage of women in the 2021 sample year and compares the relative increases from 2019 to 2021 with that of the previous three years. The University of Hohenheim will publish even more up-to-date figures on 14 July 2023, when the Faculty Gender Equality Representative presents her annual report. The University of Hohenheim has a particularly successful gender equality policy for early career researchers. In the reference year 2021, one in every three habilitations (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) was completed by a female post-doctoral lecturer. Among junior professorships, the proportion of female professors was two-thirds. In this category, the University of Hohenheim is one of the 10 most successful universities in Germany.

Overall, female researchers made up almost exactly half of the academic staff at the University of Hohenheim (50.21%) in the period under review 2019-2021. In 2016, this number was 45.18%. This puts the University of Hohenheim among the top ten universities in Germany with the highest growth rates.

The University of Hohenheim is thus far above the state average. The University will publish even more up-to-date figures from 2022 on 14 July 2023, when the Faculty Gender Equality Representative presents her annual report.
