Students at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart consider their university to be one of the best in Germany. Coming in 9th place among the most popular universities, the university secured the “StudyCheck Award 2025.” This result is based on a recent analysis by the comparison portal “StudyCheck,” where students nationwide describe and rate their degree programs. In fact, the University of Hohenheim places a particular emphasis on innovative teaching, good supervision, and state-of-the-art degree programs. “Beautiful campus, nice professors” (Biology B.Sc.), “Very good for practical and laboratory experience” (Agricultural Biology B.Sc.),
“Nothing to say except that I’m absolutely satisfied” (Economics B.Sc.), “Studying without limits: A flexible and supported degree program” (Biology B.Sc.), “Studying at a high scientific level” (Clinical Nutrition M.Sc.) – these are some of the current ratings for the University of Hohenheim.

The University of Hohenheim scores points for many reasons, including having the most beautiful campus in the state and a friendly and close-knit atmosphere. “Above all, we offer our students the opportunity to help shape the university and develop solutions for a sustainable and digital future,” stated Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hess, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Hohenheim. “I see the students as enthusiastic and committed, and I am delighted that they see us as one of the top ten universities in Germany.”


Close to research and on the cutting edge of science

In Hohenheim you can find everything from basic research to practical applications on one campus. A unique feature in Hohenheim is the “Humboldt reloaded” research-based learning program. As early as their first semester, students can work independently on their own research projects in small groups. “This allows our students to experience from day one how research can provide answers to the pressing questions of our time,” said Prof. Dr. Hess.

Other positive aspects included approachable advising services that offers specific contact persons for all questions. The courses take place on campus while integrating and further developing digital components in a way that enriches teaching.


Courses on digitalization are also very popular: For example, the University of Hohenheim offers a certificate course to teach students skills in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. The offer is open to all degree programs. “In Hohenheim, we always make sure to look beyond the narrow boundaries of disciplines,” stated Prof. Dr. Hess. “And our students benefit from this when applying the course content.”

·       Agricultural Sciences (Bachelor’s): 4.2 out of 5 stars, 98% recommendation

·       Nutritional Science (Bachelor’s): 4.0 out of 5 stars, 100% recommendation

·       Digital Business Management (Bachelor's): 4.1 out of 5 stars, 98% recommendation

·       Biology (Bachelor's): 3.8 out of 5 stars, 100% recommendation

·       Sustainability & Change (Bachelor’s): 4.0 out of 5 stars, 97% recommendation

 

BACKGROUND: Ranking “Most Popular Universities” 2025 (“StudyCheck Award”)

The basis for the “Most Popular Universities” ranking in 2025 is all the ratings published on StudyCheck.de in the past calendar year 2024. The ranking of the individual universities is determined by the score value, which is formed by the star rating and the recommendation rate of the students.

In 2024, 293 reviews were submitted for the University of Hohenheim with an average recommendation rating of 96% and a star rating of 3.94 out of 5 stars. This resulted in a total score of 8.74 out of a maximum of 10. Details on results and methodology can be found at Uni Ranking 2025:
