Eligible for admission are applicants who meet all of the following entry requirements:

A degree (with a minimum duration of 3 years) from a German or foreign university or an equivalent academic qualification

Degree programs in the area of Agricultural, Horticultural, or Forestry Sciences will be recognized, such as:

  • Agricultural Biology
  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Forestry Sciences
  • Horticulture
  • Land Use
  • Agriculture
  • Biobased Products and Bioenergy
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Wine-Business Studies
  • another three-year Bachelor's program in which the subject content was made up of agricultural sciences to at least 50%

Degree programs in the areas of Natural Sciences and Engineering will be recognized, such as:

  • Agricultural Biology
  • Biology
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • Bioengineering
  • Chemistry
  • Nutritional Science
  • Food Technology
  • Food Chemistry
  • Process Engineering

Degree programs in the area of Business, Economics and Social Sciences will be recognized, such as:

  • Business Administration
  • Business and Economic Sciences
  • Economics
  • Sustainability and Change
  • another three-year Bachelor's program in which the subject content was made up of economic sciences to at least 50%

The admission committee may expand the lists of degree programs mentioned.

Sufficient knowledge of English proven by an official test

e.g. TOEFL 90, IELTS 6.5 (for further details please check the Admission regulations for Bioeconomy (in German))

Please note: Your school leaving certificate (Abitur) is not sufficient as a proof of your English skills. In case of doubts, please contact the program coordinator in the beforehand of the application.

Legally certified copy of your undergraduate degree certificate and the transcript of records

including the average grade, of your undergraduate degree. If the average grade is not included in your transcript of records, the Registrar’s Office calculates the arithmetic middle of all grades, which will serve as your average grade.

If no certificate is available, please submit a transcript of records covering all your examination results to date, including all grades and the average grade.

Proof of English language proficiency

There are two options to provide proof of sufficient English language skills.

1. Final degree certificate from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program insofar as the program was carried out
  • in the English language at a university within the EU, Switzerland, UK (including Northern Ireland) or
  • one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, or Guyana.
2. Language certificate:
  • TOEFL (internet-based at least 90 points)
  • IELTS (at least 6.5 points)
  • Cambridge EFL exam (CAE – Certificate in Advanced English)
  • UNIcert II (min. grade “good”)
  • Duolingo (at least 125 points)
