Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ program for education, training, youth, and sports is the largest education program of the European Union. In the 2021-2027 program generation, the program focuses in particular on social participation, green and digital transformation, and participation in democratic life. The EU has been funding the Erasmus+ program for more than 35 years. It sets the framework, regulations, and budget. For the 2021-2027 program generation, the Erasmus+ program has a budget of approximately EUR 26.2 billion.

Structure and key actions of the Erasmus+ program

Learner and teacher mobility is at the heart of Erasmus+ activities (Key Action 1). Erasmus+ will also provide increased support to projects that promote cooperation and exchange of practices and enable key stakeholders to better use new technologies, develop innovative teaching, training and learning methods, promote non-formal learning, and develop common tools and activities (Key Action 2).

Each program country has national agencies that organize the Erasmus+ program. For the higher education sector in Germany, this task is performed by the National Agency for Erasmus+ University Cooperation in the DAAD (NA DAAD).

Program and Partner Countries of the Erasmus+ Program

Program countries of the Erasmus+ program are the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Türkiye, and Serbia). Non-European partner countries of the University of Hohenheim in the Erasmus+ program are currently Ethiopia and South Africa.

Erasmus+ for students

Students of the University of Hohenheim can participate in the Erasmus+ program for a study period abroad or for practice-oriented stays (internship/research placement). more

Erasmus+ for doctoral candidates

Doctoral candidates are eligible for funding in the Erasmus+ program as students or as staff, depending on the requirements. If you are interested, please contact the Student Mobility Team at the Office of International Affairs.

Erasmus+ for staff

Both scientific and non-scientific staff can participate in the Erasmus+ program. They can spend time abroad for teaching purposes or for further education and training. In addition, staff from partner universities can come to Hohenheim through the Erasmus+ program. Key action 2 - Promotion of university collaborations

An important component in the internationalization of universities is the establishment and implementation of joint strategic partnerships and cooperation projects. Erasmus+ offers various instruments and program lines for this purpose, with which partnerships and cooperation projects can be supported.
