Introductory events for Bachelor’s students

When you start your Bachelor's program at the University of Hohenheim, we will support you with introductory events. During events on campus, you can meet the important contact persons for your studies as well as your fellow students and take time to explore the University campus. You will also receive important information about organizing your studies.

Program summer semester 2025

Starting on 31 March, there are numerous introductory events and opportunities for all new Bachelor’s students to get acquainted with everyday life at the university and to get to know your fellow students. 

  • Participation in the events is voluntary but strongly recommended.
  • Some of the events require you to register. 
  • It is also possible to participate before your enrollment process is complete.

Orientation events for students in agricultural science degree programs

Are you studying Agricultural Sciences or Biobased Products and Bioenergy? Then come join us for an interactive day on campus to get to know your fellow students, lecturers, and the campus. Discover the campus together with your Fachschaft (student representatives for the departments), get to know your fellow students, and clarify your open questions at various information events.

Welcome & info lectures

9 a.m.–12 noon | Lecture hall: HS 9

We would like to welcome you to the Bachelor’s programs in Agricultural Sciences and Biobased Products and Bioenergy and provide you with important information for your studies. The following presentations are planned:

  • Welcoming address by the Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Information and question and answer session on the organization of the program
  • Introduction of the module supervisors for the current semester
  • Question and answer session on internships
  • Information on e-learning platform ILIAS
  • Announcements, tips, and question and answer session by the Fachschaft

Campus Rally

1:00–2:30 p.m. | Meeting point: in front of the Audimax

With the Campus rally, we would like to show you the most important offices and places on campus. In small groups, you can discover the teaching garden, the dairy farm, the Palace, the AStA cellar, and much more. You will be accompanied by students from your Fachschaft. 

Get a taste of research

3–5 p.m. | With registration

In “Get a taste of research” you can get to know different scientific topics of your degree program and deal intensively with a question. Lecturers in the program have prepared various workshops on current topics from which you can choose the most exciting research question for you. In a small team you will embark on your first research trip, you will gain first insights into scientific-methodical work, you will get to know lecturers and fellow students, and at the end you will even be able to present your own results.

End of the day together with the Fachschaft

Starting at 5:00 p.m. | Meeting point: TMS

Your Fachschaft is planning an evening program to help you relax and end your first day on campus on a good note. You can find more events organized by the student representatives for the departments (Fachschaft) on their Instagram channel or website.

Getting a successful start: Key information about studying in the Bachelor’s programs at the University of Hohenheim

The Central Student Counselling Center (ZSB) explains the most important aspects about studying at the University of Hohenheim and, of course, where you can get support if you have questions during your studies. You can find more events and workshops for new students in the Overview of Studies program.

Math Practice Workshop

The Math Practice Workshop is an open, tutor-supervised learning space for new students in the Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences and Biobased Products and Bioenergy programs. In your first semester you will take some modules with mathematics content. We would like to support you if you have any questions or problems concerning the mathematics covered in these courses.
