The University of Hohenheim’s data protection officer is responsible for monitoring whether legal regulations are observed in the day-to-day work of the University.
This includes:
- Informing and advising the University and its committees, contracted processors of the University, or University employees regarding existing regulations and obligations related to data protection
- Monitoring compliance with existing regulations on data protection at the University
- Monitoring compliance with established personal data protection policies at the University
- Advice on and monitoring of the implementation of data protection impact assessments at the University
- Reporting to the University Management as required
- Involvement in all issues related to the protection of personal data at the University
- Taking into account the risks inherent in the processing operations for the rights and freedoms of data subjects whose personal data are processed at the University
- Participating in reporting violations of personal data protection that have occurred at the University
- Participating in the definition of technical and organizational measures to achieve an adequate level of protection in the processing of personal data and of measures to remedy any violations of the protection of personal data that have occurred or to avert disproportionate risks to the rights and freedoms of persons affected by the processing of personal data at the University
- Contact person for data subjects whose personal data is processed at the University
- Providing advice to data subjects on the processing of their personal data at the University and on the exercise of their rights as data subjects
- Cooperation with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information as the responsible supervisory authority for data protection at the University
