Primary selection criteria
Students in their first year/subject-related semester:
... the transcript of records from their university entrance qualification. For foreign transcripts, a notarized translation that includes a calculation of the grades into the German grading system is necessary including the individual grades that are relevant for the selected degree program according to the admission regulations.
If the admission regulations do not require any individual grades, the grades in the subjects mathematics and the first foreign language must be calculated for the German system.
Students in the second subject-related semester and higher:
... weighted grade for selection:all modules for every semester already completed.
The day of the exam determines the semester to which the module is assigned.
The weighted score from all modules included is the grade point average of those modules.
...from applications for a Master’s degree program the transcripts for the first university degree.
Secondary selection criteria
- awards and recognition for above-average performance at the secondary or tertiary level,
- community activities,
- volunteer work at the University,
- special social, personal, or family-related circumstances or family background (e.g. migrant background*).
*The applicant or a parent is not a German citizen or was naturalized or was not born in Germany and immigrated in 1950 or later - Please include proof!
Calculation
The primary and secondary selection criteria are assigned a certain number of points.
For primary selection criteria, 40 points are awarded for a grade of 1.0 (4.0 on the GPA scale) and 10 points for a grade of 4.0 (1.0 on the GPA scale).
The points are given in steps of 0.1.
A maximum of 5 points are awarded for each secondary selection criteria (a total of 4 criteria). At most, 10 points can be awarded for secondary selection criteria.
