Placement tests / Certificates

In order to guarantee a uniform level in the language courses, a placement test (currently in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese) must be taken or the proof of achievement of the previous course must be available - with the exception of the beginner courses.

We strongly recommend that you take the placement test before the start of the enrollment period (the earlier the better) in order to avoid long waiting times in the Mediothek. The validity of the placement tests and certificates is 3 semesters, whereby the semester in which the language course or placement test was taken does not count. The test period is identical to the beginning and end of the semester (April-September and October-March). Only one placement test in the respective language may be taken per test period.

A valid student ID or a corresponding identity card (with photo) must be presented. Please note: not all courses listed in the document (course structure) are offered every semester!
