In review: Cableway to Hohenheim (news)

With a feasibility study, the city of Stuttgart wants to look into the possibility of adding city cableways to complement current public transportation. The line being discussed would lead from Degerloch to the University of Hohenheim. In a letter to Mayor of Construction Pätzold, the Chancellor asked to be included in planning at an early point in time.

The University of Hohenheim is pleased about every improvement to public transportation, Chancellor Katrin Scheffer wrote in a letter to the Mayor of Construction in July 2018. In principle, the University would therefore like to support a cableway line to the campus, which is why the University is asking to be included in the discussions.
The Mayor of Construction agreed to this in his response.

The city passed the respective decision on 10 July 2018. Currently, the call for tenders is still being run for the project, the city stated in response to an inquiry.

Four possible lines are being discussed. Two of them - from Pragsattel to Ostendplatz and from Veihinger Bahnhof to the Airport - are being prioritized by the city. Two others - including the one from Degerloch to Hohenheim - have secondary priority.

Baden-Württemberg is also carrying out a study “Urban Cableways in Baden-Württemberg” on the potential of city cableways and published the guidelines for action on “Urban Air Cableways” in May 2018.
