Puerto Rico will shift from an oil-based economy to a bio-based economy, which, in its mature state, fully exploits its potential for sustainable production and conversion of biological material. This will provide opportunities for economic growth, jobs, create smart bio-based products and biofuels, help deliver global food security, improve nutrition and health, as well as help agriculture, forestry, aquaculture and other ecosystems to adapt to climate change. Project goals: To create a platform that will ensure the long-term success of Puerto Rico’s Bio-Economic development. To attract business to Puerto Rico by assessing the resources, investment opportunities, creating job growth, and new technologies available in the Bio-Economic field. To move away from fossil fuel sources and traditional economy that unnecessarily hinder Puerto Rico with excessive importing of non-domestic goods. Use better what we already use. Innovate how to use what we don’t use yet. |
