Description

Open housing system is used in hot climates and it is usually a shade structure covering yard or corral. Linear programming involves the planning of activities to obtain optimal solution. The objective is to develop a model to help in designing dairy farms in hot climates, to assist in implementing technology, and to calculate the costs. A computer-based management information system was made to collect the necessary technical data of the new technologies on an ongoing basis. The linear programming is used to optimize the technology selection, and then the Excel-Solver is used to solve the mathematical model of the linear programming. The MS-Excel is used to develop the model, and to show the results of the input settings automatically by calculation not only the dimensions of the dairy cow building and its components, but also the fixed, variable and total costs. The dairy farm foundation model is divided to 3 sub-models: design model, technology model and costs calculation model.
