Abstract

Randianin (I), a new triterpene diglucoside, was isolated from the methanolic exts. of the fruits of R. dumetorum. Its structure has been established as .beta.-D-glucopyranosyl (1.fwdarw.3)-.beta.-D- glucopyranosyl (1.fwdarw.3)-3.beta.-hydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid on the basis of hydrolysis and spectral evidence including COSY NMR and NOE studies.
