Abstract

The problem of uneven drying over the belt width on belt dryers is a consequence of inadequate air distribution leading to a decreased throughput and high energy requirements. To achieve system optimisation, computational fluid simulations were conducted using. Initially, the problem was discovered in the air supply duct, due to the incorrect angle of an adjustable flap for air distribution. By adjusting the angle of 45° the air mass flow rate was equal for both chambers. The influence of the guide plates adjoining the drying chamber was confirmed due to the fluid path length of the hot air
