Publication of press releases

An expert assessment on topics that are currently in the media, especially research outcomes, publications, events: Those could all be good reasons to issue a press release and organize a press conference.

At the University of Hohenheim, press releases are written by the Press Center at the Media & Marketing Department. When producing a release, the press officers collaborate closely with the institution in question.

Workflow

Step 1Expert interview
The expert explains the topic to the Press Center in a personal meeting (15 min. to 1.5 hours)
Step 2First draft
The Press Center writes a first draft according to journalistic criteria. This draft is returned to the expert for review.
Step 3Review
The expert provides fedback regarding the correctness and completeness of contents (by phone or e-mail).
Step 4Revisions
The Press Center accepts the expert's requested changes or formulates its own alternatives based on the expert's feedback.
Step 5Final release
The Press Center sends the final version to the expert. The expert gives his or her approval or requests other revisions.
Step 6Distribution and publication
on the University website.

The press release is not published until the expert is satisfied with its contents.

In Brief

  • Schedule: The media like to get their information early, and our internal coordination also takes time. Please always let us know in advance and as early as possible about upcoming events.
  • Mailing list: Depending on the topic, we use various mailing lists (e.g., science, environment, business, agriculture, news, etc.) when sending out press releases. We would be happy to add journalists or representatives of other organizations to this list if you send us the their contact information.
  • Coordination with external partners: If the press release is about an outcome achieved together with external partners, we also coordinate the related PR activities with your partners and their press centers.
  • Legal obligation to use the Press Center for press releases: According to the State Higher Education Act, only the President has the right to represent the University externally. Consequently, press releases must always be issued through the Press Center. In principle, press releases must also be approved by the President.
