Project acceptance

The grant notification from the third-party funder is legally binding. Please read it carefully.

Once the project has been approved by the third-party-funding organization, the organization (or a commissioned project management agency) sends a grant notice to the applicant(s). Synonyms for this are terms such as "approval" (e.g. DFG) or "grant agreement" (DAAD).

The grant notice is legally binding and regulates the relationship between the funder and the grantee.

In most cases, the university administration receives the complete grant notice (including attachments) and the department performing the work receives a copy.

  • When we receive grant notifications in AF, we coordinate the project acceptance directly with you and, if necessary, point out any particularities or deviations.
  • As the project director, please always read the grant notification in its entirety case and observe the regulations, dates, and deadlines in it. Project staff should also be aware of the grant terms and conditions.
  • If the grant notice obligates you to conclude a cooperation agreement with your project partners or other contractual agreements, our lawyers in AF will be happy to assist you in drafting the contract.

Please note:
What is legally binding is always what is stated in the grant notice. Commitments made verbally or by email are not legally binding.

Contact us if you have questions about your grant notice.

  • As a rule, a one-month objection period applies from receipt of the notice. If you have any objections to the terms stated in the notice, please coordinate your objection with us in AF.
  • If further legally binding signatures are required for the acceptance of the grant (waiver of appeal, application profi-Online), we will gladly take care of this for you.
  • If you wish to start work on the project before the notification has been submitted, please be sure to discuss this with the third-party funder/project management agency.
