All students receive a student ID from the Registrar's Office in the form of a chip card. It has multiple functions, serving simultaneously as

• VVS ticket
• library card
• means of cashless payment in the Canteen/Cafeteria and the campus-wide multi-function devices (printing, copying, and scanning), and
• key to the lockers in the Central Library
  
  

In order to be able to use the ID, at the beginning of each semester it must be activated at one of the validation machines (Location: Central Library, Mensa - entrance).

It can be used for payment once credit has been put on it at one of the recharge terminals (Canteen, Central Library) or at the information point (Canteen).
