Please note: From the summer semester 2025, your the Hohenheim student ID card will no longer automatically be valid as a VVS ticket in the evenings and at weekends, and you will no longer be able to buy a StudiTicket from the VVS! Information on available tickets: www.vvs.de/tickets
Student ID
All students receive a student ID from the Registrar's Office in the form of a chip card. It has multiple functions, serving simultaneously as
- library card
- means of cashless payment in the Canteen/Cafeteria and the campus-wide multi-function devices (printing, copying, and scanning), and
- key to the lockers in the Central Library
In order to be able to use the ID, at the beginning of each semester it must be activated at one of the validation machines (Location: Central Library, Mensa - entrance).
It can be used for payment once credit has been put on it at one of the recharge terminals (Canteen, Central Library) or at the information point (Canteen).
Autoload function.: If the credit on the card goes below a certain limit, you can have a specified amount automatically loaded onto the card. more information
Loss of student ID
To get a new student ID, please contact the Student Information Center (SIZ).
