Math pre-course

The next Math Pre-Course will be held in the 2025/26 winter semester.

You can brush up on your middle and high school math in the two-week Math Pre-Course that takes place before classes begin. In the first semester, you can expect one module on mathematics in most Bachelor's programs. The pre-course is designed to help you prepare and get a first impression of your university. It consists of a self-assessment test, learning module, lectures, workshops, and exercises.

Registration is currently not possible.

Self-assessment test

Before the start of the Math Pre-Course you can take a self-assessment test. It helps you see how your math skills are doing and on which workshop days you should be particularly attentive. At the same time, you learn to assess yourself reliably - this helps enormously later in your studies, for example when preparing for exams. Participation in the self-assessment test is anonymous. Your achieved result has no effect on your participation in the Math Pre-Course.

Learning module

On the openILIAS learning platform, you will find a learning module with the content discussed in the workshops - clearly structured and explained in a simple way. The learning module allows you to refresh and practice the contents and can also be used as a reference. Before each workshop, you will work independently at home through the chapter covered in that workshop and calculate the practice problems on the handout.

Lecture (in German)

Each course day begins with a lecture on the learning material of the respective chapter.

Math Workshop (in German)

Here you can work on the exercises in company and with tutorial support, get to know fellow students and ask the tutors questions about the organization of your studies.

Learning Space

In the daily exercise, the task sheet belonging to the course day will be discussed.

Math Workshop

The Math Workshop will take place in the winter semester 2025/26

The Math Workshop is an open learning space that you can use without any obligation. Here you can independently complete your weekly additional assignments, clarify questions about the exercises or the lectures, and receive further assignments to practice. But you are also welcome to come and ask specific questions. You can also get to know fellow students here as you work.

If you have any questions about the Math Workshop, please contact Barbara Hellwig (email).

In your first semester you will take some modules with mathematics content. We would like to support you if you have any questions or problems concerning the mathematics covered in these courses.

First Insights into Chemistry (in German)

The event will take place again in the winter semester 2025/26.

The event is aimed at all first-year students of agricultural and natural science courses.

Do you want to know what to expect when it comes to chemistry at university? Are you worried that you might not be up to speed or has it been a long time since you had chemistry in school? The event is intended to help you assess your level of knowledge and to show what help is available (e.g., “tutorials”) if you need some support in the subject. In addition, the course aims to (re)awaken your interest in the subject: Chemistry at the university is fun!
