Frequently asked questions...

Here are the frequently recurring questions which we answer as succinctly as possible.

Should questions still remain that are not answered in other areas of our website, please contact the Sports Office.

Students enrolled at the University of Hohenheim and employees of the University of Hohenheim, students from cooperative study programs enrolled at the University of Stuttgart, as well as members of the Universitätsbund Hohenheim and the alumni network of the University of Hohenheim, if there is free capacity, are eligible to participate. You can find more detailed information in the conditions of participation.

Unfortunately not. Students from other universities or colleges are also not eligible. Only enrolled students and employees of the University of Hohenheim can participate in the Uni Sport courses.

An exception are cooperative study programs with the University of Stuttgart. If interested, students should contact the sports office in person.

No. Participation in almost all courses is only possible after prior registration.

You can find detailed on this topic information at: Liability and Insurance.

  1. Pick your desired course from our course catalogue.
Under the general course description, you will find a table with information about the day, time, place, and price of the course. In addition, in the right column of the table, you will find the button which you can use to bindingly book this course.
  2. If you would like to book, then for your desired course, click the button “buchen” in the right-hand column of the table. If the button isn’t green, then registration is not currently possible.
  3. Please fill out the registration form with your data. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required and must be completed. These data are required for registration.
For proof of student status, students will need their matriculation number, employees their business telephone number.
In addition to this information, we will need your address and account data for the debit charge procedure as well as your e-mail address and - if you have one - your mobile phone number.
  4. Please read our conditions of participation and confirm that you agree to them.
  5. Then click “weiter zur Buchung” (continue to registration).
  6. In the next window, please check that your data is correct. If everything is correct, confirm by clicking on “verbindliche Buchung” (binding registration”.
  7. You will then see a registration confirmation. Please print this out. It is your participant ticket for the course you chose.
  8. You will also receive registration confirmation via e-mail which contains a link you can use for a few days to view and print your registration confirmation.
  9. If you are booking a course with a fee for the first time, then in addition to the registration confirmation, you will see a direct debit mandate. Please send us the signed mandate immediately via post or bring it to us in person (in the Sport Office). If we have not received the mandate after two weeks, your registration will be cancelled and you will lose your spot in the course.
You must only turn in the mandate one time. The mandate does not expire, but it loses validity 36 months after the last time it was used.

Effective immediately, all participants can use a simplified online registration procedure by choosing a password at the end of the registration and then logging in with their personal e-mail address and this password. The registration data can then be easily called up again.

If you have forgotten your password, then when you complete your next registration, simply fill out the registration form again and set a new password.

The green button means that there are still open spots in this course. In rare cases, however, it can happen that at the beginning of your registration only a few spots were still free and at the time of your confirmation the course was fully booked.
In this case, you are unfortunately not registered for the course and can only be placed on the waiting list.

Unfortunately not. Due to high demand during the semester periods, we have limited enrollment to 6 courses per person and 2 courses per sport in the interest of fairness.

The following courses are exempt from this rule, that is, they do not count towards the maximum 6 courses that can be booked:

  • All courses that are not fully booked after 3 working days
  • One-time trial offers (e.g., introduction to Feldenkrais)
  • Necessary introductory events (e.g., introduction to the gym)
  • Use of sports facilities (e.g., booking tennis court or beach volleyball court)
  • Tournaments/competitions and trips

Cancellation of booked offers without payment of the course fee is only possible up to three working days before the second course date mentioned on the Internet and can be done either by email or in person at the sports office. If someone joins the course after it has started, cancellation without payment of the course fee is possible up to a maximum of 7 days after the registration date.
If at the time of the cancellation the direct debit of the course fee has already been initiated, a handling fee of € 5 will be charged due to the increased workload.

The objection to the direct debit by the participant is not considered cancellation. Objection or incorrect information will cause an unsuccessful debit attempt, for which the financial institution will charge the university additional fees, which we will then have to pass on to you.

Changing courses is possible in principle as long as there are still open spots in the other course, and it can be done directly in the Sport Office.

If you change courses, you will not be reimbursed for the course fee. If you change to a more expensive course, the difference will be charged with direct debit.

You may not transfer your registration to another person. It is also not possible to cancel in favor of another person. Spots which open up due to cancelations will be distributed using the waiting list.

Don’t worry, you’re still registered. After registration, you will automatically receive a confirmation e-mail containing all important information.

In addition, later in the Sport Office, you have your confirmation printed or have them send you a link for doing so via e-mail.

If a course is full, you can enter your e-mail address in the waiting list.

If a spot opens up, then an e-mail will be sent directly to those on the waiting list.

The person who reacts fastest can register.

If you gave your e-mail address for the waiting list for a course but don’t want to receive any more notifications about open course spots, then you can remove yourself from the waiting list using the link and the end of the notification e-mail.

If you’re on the waiting list and were successfully able to register for the course, then you will automatically be removed from the waiting list.

If you’re interested in working for Uni Sport, please contact us.

In particular in the area of fitness and health courses (LBT, Pilates, back training, Yoga, Zumba, etc.) we are looking for more instructors.

But we also need instructors in other sports and would be happy if you contacted usif you have a course instructor certificate or a subject-specific education in your sport and would like to be a course instructor for Uni Sport.

Unfortunately, for organizational reasons, contradictory information regarding course times may occur from time to time.

The information in the sports program on the homepage is usually what is valid. Here, course details such as location, time, and information about instructors etc. are adjusted to the current circumstances.

The program flyer is a print medium with a fixed print run and can therefore unfortunately never remain completely up-to-date.

Our sport programme is linked to the semesters. There is a programme for the winter and summer semester. In the lecture-free periods, we also offer a (reduced) sport programme.

Which of our programmes is current and when you can register for the next courses will be announced on our homepage.

Days when the courses in general don’t take place (e.g. breaks and holidays) are listed under dates.

If a course has to be cancelled by the instructor at the last minute, you will be informed via e-mail.

Pursuant to the SEPA Regulation of the European Parliament, since 1 Feb 2014, Uni Sport has used the SEPA direct debit scheme. For the courses with fees, the following changes result:

  • Instead of your account number and bank code, you need to enter your IBAN and BIC.
  • You may only register with a valid e-mail address.
  • You must submit a printed direct debit mandate.

Mandate

If you are booking a course with a fee for the first time, then in addition to the registration confirmation, you will see a direct debit mandate.

Please send us the signed mandate immediately via post or bring it to us in person (in the Sport Office). Without the written mandate, we cannot carry out direct debit charges. If we have not received the mandate 14 days after you have registered, your registration will be cancelled and you will lose your spot in the course.

The direct debit mandate is a so-called multiple mandate. It must only be submitted once and is valid for any further transactions. (It can therefore be used every semester for as many charges as necessary.)

The mandate does not expire, but it loses validity 36 months after the last time it was used. A mandate can be revoked in writing via a letter or e-mail.

IBAN and BIC

In the future, instead of account numbers and bank codes, only the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and the BIC (Business Identifier Code) will be used.

The BIC is the international bank code of the banking institution and is usually automatically filled in by the registration system. If you do need to enter it (e.g. for foreign bank accounts), then the system will ask for it and offers a place to enter the data.

The IBAN is your personal account number and can usually be seen on a current account statement or be calculated on your bank’s homepage.

Valid e-mail address

In the future you must enter a valid e-mail address even if you register in person.

The course fee is not automatically booked at the time of registration. The direct debit charge must be started by us and processed by the cashier’s office.
This usually takes place 3 to 4 weeks after registration begins and then again later depending on the number of further registrations.

In addition, a charge is initiated once the minimum number of participants for a course has been reached. If not enough participants have registered for a course, the course fee will not be booked.

Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, the course fee is booked.

If you gave incorrect account information or if the course fee was not covered by your account at the time the charge was processed, then the course fee could not be booked from your account. In this case, your registration continues to be valid at first, but you should contact the Sport Office immediately. Please also note the following questions and explanations.

If a direct debit charge cannot be carried out because the account information you gave was incorrect or because there were not sufficient funds in your account, then the banks charge us a processing fee which we must then charge you.

This is how we can inform you quickly of any free spots, additional offers, changes to the course, course cancelations, etc. Please give a valid e-mail address and make sure the information is correct.

Occasionally e-mails we send are marked as spam by the providers. You should therefore also check your spam folder or set up rules/forwards so that our mails reach your inbox.

If you still have questions after reading our FAQ, then please contact the Sport Office directly.

We will make an effort to answer your questions quickly.
