Agricultural Sciences

The Bachelor’s program in Agricultural Sciences explores the question of how we will produce our food in the future. What solutions are there to produce food regionally and globally while ensuring it is ecologically and socially sustainable as well as being animal-friendly and financially attractive for people in agriculture? And on top of that, making sure it is high-quality food that can still be produced despite the changing climate? How can agriculture also contribute to supplying energy and raw materials? If these or similar questions are on your mind and you want to contribute to their solutions, then agricultural science is the right course of study for you. With an integrated internship, you'll get to know problems and solutions firsthand. In combination with an agricultural apprenticeship, you can even shorten the duration of your studies by one semester. Our many hands-on courses help you gain research experience and already put your findings into practice.

Studies

Hands-on, interdisciplinary, individual

The Bachelor's degree program in Agricultural Sciences provides you with extensive knowledge at the interface of plant sciences, agricultural engineering, animal sciences, economics, and soil sciences. You will be able to assess ecological and economic impacts of agricultural measures. You will learn to analyze complex interrelationships, find approaches to solutions for concrete agricultural challenges, and experience these for yourself in the practice of agricultural enterprises. You will compose about 40 percent of your studies according to your own interests and goals, acquiring skills in the theory and practice of agricultural sciences. For example, you can choose from 12 profiles or integrate a company internship. There are more topics and opportunities than at any other university in Germany.

Helping to shape the agricultural sector for the future

As a graduate of the Bachelor's program in Agricultural Sciences, many career paths are open to you. You can run farms or work in the public sector in specialized agencies. Your expertise is in demand in agricultural and process engineering companies, in the food industry, and in companies related to crops or livestock. Another important field of activity for agricultural scientists is quality and project management. However, you may decide to pursue a more research-oriented job. For this, we recommend that you first study for an advanced Master's degree. Wherever your focus lies: Through your work in agricultural sciences, you will play a significant role in shaping a socially relevant field and contributing to food security.
