Animal experiments in research

Environmental and resource protection, world nutrition, prevention of disease, health promotion, basic biological research, animal well-being, species protection, and bioeconomy: With its research, the University of Hohenheim looks for insights related to many global challenges.

Humans and animals benefit from this research. For the foreseeable future, this will not be possible without research and teaching with animals.

The University of Hohenheim believes it is important to justify its research. It therefore gives insights into the entire spectrum of its work with and for animals. Experiments that are legally not even animal experiments are shown as well as those that do not use animals at all. Whenever possible, the University of Hohenheim uses replacements and avoids animal experiments, as promised in its guidelines.

Mice, rats, frogs, and livestock are used in research.
