Examination regulations

Each program of study of the University of Hohenheim has its own examination regulations, in which legally binding rules on examination procedures of your program are summarized. They are continuously updated and it is strongly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the examination regulations relevant to you in good time and that you check them for any changes that have occurred in the meantime.

How do I know which examination regulations apply to me?

You can find out which examination regulations apply to you in the curriculum on HohCampus.

Note: The Master’s degree always includes the Specialized Master’s Examination Regulations, which only apply in combination with the General Master’s Examination Regulations.

How do I read my examination regulations?

The examination regulations in Hohenheim are divided into a general part and a specialized part.
In the Bachelor’s programs, both parts can be found in one document; in the Master’s degree programs, there are two documents that must be observed.

The general regulations that apply to all students of a degree type can be found in the

  • “General Section” of the examination regulations for your degree program for Bachelor’s programs and in the
  • “General Examination Regulations for the University of Hohenheim’s Master’s Degree Programs” for Master’s programs.

Some aspects are then specified in the specialized sections of the examination regulations. You will always find a reference to the specialized section in the general section, if this is the case.

Always check the general regulations first and observe the specialized regulations if there is a reference!

The specialized regulations can be found in the

  • “Specialized Part” of the Bachelor’s examination regulations for your degree program and in the
  • “Specialized Master’s Examination Regulations” for your Master’s degree program.

An indication that there is a particular regulation might look like this, for example:

How do I read my examination regulations if there is a statute for changing the examination regulations?

Sometimes individual provisions in the examination regulations are changed and there are no new examination regulations.

These changes typically do not concern changes to degree program structures, but are instead changes to provisions that apply to all or most students.

If there are amending statutes, there is a “reading version” in most degree programs. This is a version of the examination regulations that includes the changes from the amending statutes.

If there is no reading version, you must always use your own examination regulations as a basis and observe the changes stated in all existing statutes for changing the examination regulations.

What is a reading version?

In particular when there are amendments to the original examination regulations, the faculties sometimes produce what are referred to as “reading versions.” This is a version of the examination regulations that includes the changes from the amending statutes.

However, there are also reading versions for the Master’s degree programs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. In these reading versions, you can find both the General Examination Regulations for the Master’s Programs at the University of Hohenheim and the Specialized Master’s Examination Regulations for your degree program in one document.
