Future Skills

Digitalization, networking, 'Big Data,' sustainability - new challenges, new opportunities, new values, and new spaces for action are opening up to us almost daily as a result of the acceleration and complexity of our environment. Companies and institutions are already in a process of constant adaptation and transformation. During your studies, you will have the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to navigate the working world of tomorrow and contribute important ideas. These abilities are called 'future skills'.

What are future skills?

For the working world of the future, skills are important that allow you to react quickly to changing circumstances and new opportunities. 'Future skills' are not new skills, but they are becoming increasingly important for career entry and in working life.

Future skills include:

Due to the rapid changes in the working world, we constantly have to deal with new topics, technologies, and challenges. Employees need the willingness, initiative, and motivation to deal with these new developments.

Flat hierarchies, interdisciplinary teams, and flexible workplaces require good self-management, initiative, and decision-making skills. Employees have more and more opportunities to contribute their own ideas.

In addition to economic efficiency, values such as sustainability and social justice are considered in the development of products in all industries. The digitalization of all areas of society is also motivated by values if it enables the participation of all population groups.

New issues and challenges arise in working life every day. Through openness, creativity, and a structured way of thinking and working, employees can derive solutions for new tasks from existing knowledge.

In the increasingly networked world of work, employees encounter very different players. Communication must be appropriate to the situation when in contact with customers, supervisors, and various teams at different locations. Teams are increasingly interdisciplinary and have flat hierarchies. The will to cooperate and inclusive social behavior bring success in these structures. Both communication and collaboration are increasingly organized in the digital space.

In almost all professions, decisions will be made on the basis of big data in the future. Technologies such as artificial intelligence or machine learning are gaining importance in many application areas.

In almost all professions, processes can be automated by new technologies. Workers need the necessary understanding of the potentials and workings of these technologies to initiate change.
