With its MentHo Office, the Gender Equality Office aims to actively contribute to the conceptualization and implementation of measures related to gender equality with its memberships in regional and national associations and clubs.

 In addition, the Gender Equality Office maintains networks on various aspects related to gender equality. Contacts and experiences from these networks flow directly into the Office’s daily work.

State Conference of Gender Equality Representatives at Scientific Universities in Baden-Württemberg (LaKoG)

The State Conference of Gender Equality Representatives at Scientific Universities in Baden-Württemberg (LaKoG) is an important committee for information, coordination, and support for the gender equality representatives at the individual state universities. It contributes to shaping opinions on university and educational policies and in presenting gender equality interests to the public. The LaKoG represents the interests of female students and scientists at the state level. The University of Hohenheim’s Gender Equality Representative, Prof. Dr. Ute Mackenstedt, holds the position of State Chair until December 2018.

National Conference of Women's Representative and Gender Equality Representatives at Universities (BuKoF)

The National Conference of Women's Representative and Gender Equality Representatives at Universities (BuKoF) is the association of university women’s and gender equality representatives. In the BuKoF, the member work together to fulfill their tasks in the area of promoting women and gender equality at universities. In particular, the BuKoF represents the interests of women at all types of universities and in all member groups.

Best Practice Club “Families at the University”

The charter “Family at the University” pursues the goal of developing reconcilability of studies, career, and science with family responsibilities at universities in German-speaking areas. It is oriented on the needs of students, employees, professors, and researchers and aims to develop and establish a distinctive trademark and sign of quality for family-consciousness at universities. The charter discusses the areas of science and management culture, self-responsibility and diversity as well as conditions of work and studies, resources, infrastructure, and service in the university and science system.

In 2015 the first annual national conference took place with the topic “Shaping Reconcilability - Life-Phase Orientation and Demography Sensitivity in University Management” at the University of Hohenheim.

Stuttgart Advisory Committee for Gender Equality Issues

University of Hohenheim Gender Equality Representative Prof. Dr. Ute Mackenstedt has been a member of the Stuttgart Advisory Committee for Gender Equality Issues since 2009. It its an advisory body appointed by the city council for the duration of its legislative period in which knowledgeable citizens from various social areas (education and qualification, labor market and business, society, migration, security, culture) regularly meet with representatives from all parties and the works council to discuss, advise on, and give recommendations for political issues in the community from the specific perspective of gender equality and equal opportunities for women and men.

Networks

Work-Life-Balance Network Region Stuttgart

The members of the Gender Equality Office are active in the Work-Life-Balance Network in the Stuttgart region. The network was founded in 2001 by the city of Stuttgart’s Division for Individual Equal Opportunity as a result of a European project for management, human resource directors, and equal opportunity representatives from businesses, communities, associations, and science, and it now has over 80 members.  Stuttgart’s Division for Equal Opportunity coordinates this network, which looks at current issues related to the reconcilability of family and career, family-friendliness, and equal opportunity.  One characteristic of the network is that the members work on these topics in various contexts.

Dual Career Solutions

The University of Hohenheim is a member in the Career Network for Dual Career Couples in order to support them in their professional prospects in the Southwest center of science and business - Stuttgart. The network’s common goal is to develop and implement solutions for dual career couples in order to enable as smooth a transition as possible for professional integration in the region of Stuttgart for both partners.

Forum Mentoring

The goals of the association are to initiate, further develop, institutionalize, and ensure the quality of mentoring measures under consideration of equal opportunities in the promotion of early career researchers and academic personnel development. The University of Hohenheim has a been a member in the Forum Mentoring since 2008.

Female professor group at the University of Hohenheim

The Gender Equality Office organizes a monthly female professor group on the University campus. The offer is very well received. An exchange takes place with female colleagues from the University; even beyond each professor’s own discipline.
