Proof of sufficient language skills for mobility programs

PLEASE NOTE: The host institution’s minimum requirements for exchange students’ language skills and proof of language proficiency must be met
(cf. partner database, no guarantee of accuracy of information); in addition, the proof of language proficiency must still be valid at the time you apply to the host institution. If the validity is not explicitly stated on the certificate, the language certificate is generally valid for a maximum of two years.

The following language certificates are accepted by the Office of International Affairs when applying for mobility programs:

  • Overview page of the DAAD "Languages and Language Tests”
  • Native language
  • passed language course offered by the Language Center at the appropriate level
  • Enrollment in an English-language degree program at UHOH (B2)
  • Degree (equivalent to at least the Bachelor's degree in Germany) in the corresponding foreign language from a recognized university in Germany (B2)
  • UNIcert certificate (basic=A2, I=B1, II=B2, III=C1)
