The extensive preparations for the Master Plan help Hohenheim procure additional funding. A first success can be reported this week: The University will receive €200,000 from the state’s ideas competition “emission-free campus” to push forward mobility measures and inform University members as well as possible about new / alternatives forms of mobility.
Based on the Master Plan 2030 Construction and Mobility, the University successfully applied in the state’s ideas competition “emission-free campus.” The project “Hohenheim macht MOBIL” received € 200,000 from the Ministry of Science (start: October 2018). The focus is on sustainable mobility measures that contribute to the reduction of harmful substances and to protecting the climate.
Many necessary steps, including the implementation of construction and infrastructure projects, are not things that the University can control. However, it can push these projects forward by making the best possible preparations, coordinating, and acquiring additional funds. University employees are also to be well-informed and networked. New / alternative forms of mobility are to be actively publicized and promoted on campus. With the funding, the University will create a 50% coordination position for the topic of mobility (duration: 2 years).
After 12 months, it will be possible to receive further funding to implement specific ideas that were developed within the project.
