Stays abroad

Bilateral overseas program

The University of Hohenheim maintains numerous partnerships with many universities outside Europe. Based on this cooperation, the University of Hohenheim also promotes student exchange through bilateral exchange programs with partner universities overseas.

Program details

Program purpose

UHOH's bilateral exchange programs with overseas partner universities offer students the opportunity to study at a partner university in countries outside of Europe.

The aim of the exchange programs is to strengthen social and cultural skills, as well as to improve the students’ career opportunities. The study abroad program also gives students the opportunity to experience a foreign academic system and to benefit from its teaching and learning methods. In addition, the stay abroad enriches students’ academic education by providing new perspectives and approaches to the students' fields of study.

  • who have completed their first year in a Bachelor's degree program at the University of Hohenheim or at another recognized higher education institution

  • Tuition waiver at the host university
  • Support during the preparation of the stay abroad (culture, language, organizational matters)

Application procedure

The UHOH exchange programs with partner universities overseas are officially advertised within the two regions "USA, Canada, and Israel" as well as "Asia, South America, Russia, South Africa, and Mexico" once a year at least 4 weeks before the application deadline via the AA-News on the University of Hohenheim intranet. The contents of the respective announcement in the AA-News for the corresponding application procedure apply.

Applications for one of the exchange places in the UHOH overseas exchange programs are submitted exclusively via the online portal Mobility Online. The application process on Mobility Online will be activated approximately 2 weeks before the application deadline. First you will need to register to create a new application (the registration step must also be carried out if an application has already been made via Mobility Online at an earlier time). After registration, students can complete their application in their Mobility Online user account and submit it by the application deadline. It is not possible to submit documents after the deadline.

The relevant selection committee will select applicants after the application deadline and make placements for a partner university. If the exchange place offer is accepted by the student, the student will be nominated by the student mobility team at the partner university.

In the last step, the student applies to the partner university. The partner university makes the final decision on admission.

Application documents

The exact specifications on the required application materials are published each year in the official announcements for the UHOH overseas exchange programs.
