Career prospects

Diverse career prospects in business and education

You have completed your Bachelor’s degree and would now like to finally enter professional life? In addition to your interest in certain topics and industries as well as your personal talents and strengths, your possible tasks in your career will depend on two things in particular: Your elective area (general education or business administration and economics) and practical experience in the context of school and company internships.

Depending on whether you decide to go into business or pursue a state-certified teacher program, you will have different career prospects. The job prospects are good in both areas. In times of a shortage of skilled workers, experts in human resource management play a key role in recruiting, training, and retaining suitable staff members. Teachers are also in high demand, especially if they can teach one of the shortage subjects.

In the industrial and business sectors, for example, you will work in the following areas:

  • Vocational training and continuing professional education
  • Personnel, education, and training management
  • Personnel and organizational development

  • Extracurricular adult education (public and private providers)
  • Educational counselling and assistance with development
  • Analogous professional activities to the degree program Business Administration and Economics (depending on practical experience in companies and individual specialization during studies)

If you want to work as a teacher, you must first complete a Master's degree in Education for Business and Economics and a traineeship. In education, you have the following career options:

  • Teaching position at vocational schools with a focus on business and economics
  • Activities in education administration, policy, and research, for example at chambers, associations, or ministries. You can find an overview of examples on the page www.bildungsserver.de.
