The funding program “Germany scholarship” was developed by the federal government with the goal of supporting and funding students at universities in Germany according to their performance and talent.
In the form of a matching fund, the contribution of private sponsors (companies, foundations, associations, alumni, private individuals) to a scholarship of 150 euros per month is doubled by the state (companies can deduct the scholarship from their taxes), so that scholarships of 300 euros per month can be financed jointly by the state and private sponsors. The University of Hohenheim has the task of raising funds for this scholarship from private scholarship providers and selecting the scholarship recipients as part of a selection procedure. In the winter semester 2024/25, a maximum of 1.5% of the students at Hohenheim (130 scholarships) can receive a scholarship, subject to financing by private donors. The scholarships are awarded at a festive event.
