Structure of program | Elective area | Additional modules

The degree programs are divided into different areas.

The following degree program structure is possible: Majors; compulsory, compulsory elective, elective, basic, profile, advanced, focus, or specialization modules or areas.

The structure of your studies is determined by the examination regulations and the module catalog.

The easiest way to view your own study structure is in the study planner.

Assignment of the modules to the areas

When you register for an examination, you specify the area to which the module is to be assigned.

It is only possible to change at a later date as part of an official module exchange.

Choice of profile | Concentration | Specialization

If you have to choose a profile, a concentration, or a specialization in the degree program, you also specify the respective profile or specialization by registering in the corresponding area.

If you choosing a profile is not mandatory in your degree program, but you can choose a profile if you want, then the choice of profile results from the necessary module selection according to the module catalog. The profile then appears in the overview of academic achievements as soon as the corresponding modules have been passed.

Free elective area | Elective modules

In the study planner, the area is divided into at least two “sub-areas.”
First, there is the “Recommended electives” area, which contains all modules that are a useful addition to the curriculum in the respective degree program according to the module catalog.
Second, there are the “Other elective.” If you select “Show structure” in the study planner, you can find all the modules that you can choose according to your examination regulations. In most cases, modules from several degree programs can be selected.

Portfolio modules

As a student, you can find information on the content and crediting of portfolio modules for

Additional modules

Additional modules are coursework and examinations that do not count towards the degree. Completed additional modules can be shown on the transcript of records.

The examination regulations specify the degree programs from which additional modules can be selected. They also specify if there are certain admission requirements for the selection of additional modules.

Documentation of incomplete modules after exchanging modules

If you move modules whose examination procedure you do not want to complete to the additional module section, these will be permanently shown here. Additional modules that have not been passed are not shown on the transcript.

Extracurricular offer from the AIDAHO certificate

If you take the AIDAHO certificate, you may be able to register for modules that would not be selectable according to the examination regulations. These can then be registered as additional modules and are also shown on the transcript.
