Museum of Zoology and Veterinary Medicine with the Hohenheim Xylothek

Impressive animal specimens and artfully crafted Xylothek: Directly under the dome of Hohenheim Palace, the Zoological and Veterinary Museum impresses with a remarkable  collection of exhibits. It contains a cross-section of the entire animal kingdom. Among the highlights are the extensive collection of native songbirds, masterfully compiled biologies of native insects, lines of descent of various domestic animals, and malformations in the embryo development of vertebrates. Fascinating treasure: The Hohenheim Xylothek is one of the largest xylotheques in Germany. The most important natural characteristics and possible uses of 189 tree species are compiled in artfully crafted "wooden books", which are up to 200 years old. more
