Final thesis

(Bachelor’s Thesis | Master’s Thesis | Seminar Papers)

The regulations for final theses are set out for each degree program in the respective examination regulations.

A summary for each degree program can be found on the Examinations Office page for students (select Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis).

Information for examiners and module supervisors

Whether you allocate the topic or decide on it together with the students you have been assigned is up to the examining instructor.

Instructors have various options for publishing the topics:

  • Notice
  • Information in courses
  • Notification on ILIAS
  • Notification via e-mail

Legal basis

The principles of good scientific practice should be a set part of teaching. The University of Hohenheim’s Guidelines on Good Scientific Practice require:

  • Supervisors for seminar papers, Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, and dissertations to ensure that students are familiar with the rules of good scientific practice in advance and warn them of the consequences of scientific misconduct.
  • When submitting a seminar paper, Bachelor's thesis, Master's thesis, dissertation, or post-doctoral thesis, those who wrote the paper must include a declaration that they have followed the principles of good scientific practice, independently written the work, and did not use any sources or aids other than those given. At the same time, they are to give their consent for the use of plagiarism software.

The valid version of the Declaration of Independent Work can be found on each degree program’s examination page.Overview

Software for checking for plagiarism

Supervisors can use the software Turnitin to check papers submitted for plagiarism.
