Before you apply for a degree program, please read the information about the requirements, the selection criteria, and the required documents.
This will make the application process much easier for you and helps you to avoid mistakes and delays.

There is no limit to the number of spots in this degree program.

Anyone who fulfills the admission requirements can be admitted to the Master’s program in Agribusiness.

 

An above-average overall grade in a degree program from a university in Germany or abroad that lasted at least three years.

Bachelor’s degrees in the program Agricultural Sciences or another degree program with a natural science or economic focus are recognized. See the admission regulations (PDF, 248 kB).

 

Minimum overall grade of “good” (2.5 on German scale) or better.

 

If the average grade is lower than 2.5, a ranking or proof of special aptitude for the degree program must be included.

(This is possible in the form of a letter of recommendation, completed vocational training or professional experience, special community or social commitment, or a letter of motivation.)

 
Applicants without an Abitur or a German-language Bachelor’s degree must prove their German proficiency at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.

The following documents are necessary to submit your application correctly (even if you are already studying at the University of Hohenheim). With the exception of the requests for recognition of coursework and examinations when applying for a higher subject-related semester, the documents are only to be uploaded as pdf files during the online application process.

 

Final transcript of records or proof of a completed university degree with the average grade

  • If the final transcript of records has not yet been issued, you must submit an overview of the examinations taken so far. The final transcript of records must be submitted at the latest by 15 December of the same year in which you start studying in the winter semester or, if you start your studies in the summer semester, then at the latest by 30 June of the year for which admission is requested.
  • If the average grade of your final transcript of records or the overview of the examinations you have already completed is not above average (2.5 or better on the German scale), then the admission committee can take into consideration a letter of recommendation from a professor of the university from which you obtained your degree or a ranking of your cohort.

These documents must be submitted together with the application documents. If neither a letter of recommendation nor a ranking is submitted, applications with below-average final grades will be rejected by the admission committee.

If you were already enrolled in a Master’s study program, you will also need to send the following documents:

  • Proof that you still have the right to take examinations in the study program for which admission is sought or a related study program (it is sufficient to submit a print-out from your student account if it includes the current overall results of your studies)
  • Proof that you are not currently involved in an ongoing examination process

Recognition of already completed coursework and examinations

For admission to a higher subject-related semester, you must also request the recognition of already completed examinations at the Master’s level.

Please completely fill out the request for recognition for all examinations you would like to have recognized. You can find more information on the internet site for applying for a higher subject-related semester

Please do not forget to include descriptions of the examinations or the corresponding courses, including the number of ECTS credits and the grade.

 

If you were already enrolled in a Master’s study program, you will also need to send the following documents:

FAQ

Applications for the winter semester must be submitted by 15 September, applications for the summer semester by 15 March.

You must enter information about the HZB in the online application.

The information on the HZB is required for international applicants to check whether they need to pay tuition fees and for all applications for statistical analyses. The HZB has no effect on whether you are admitted or not.

When you upload documentation for the HZB, you make it easier for us to check the information you entered in the application process and help us to be able to process this information faster.
