The following have been carried out:

Mobility station

The University of Hohenheim’s new mobility station with services is located in the heart of the campus:

New, additional parking spaces for bikes

More than 400 new parking spaces have been installed. As requested by the students, these are U-racks.

Rental bikes

Hohenheim has also participated in the RegioRad Stuttgart bicycle rental system with three stations: a so-called terminal station with racks and charging facilities (at the mobility station) and two virtual stations with parking spaces only (at the Mensa and in Schwerzstraße on the eastern edge of the campus). Another terminal station is located near the Plieningen tram and bus stop.

Showers

At the end of 2019, the university opened 47 showers at five different locations for cyclists. Previously, these were sometimes used exclusively by individual institutions. You can find the locations of the showers and further information in the FAQ section.

“Bicycle-friendly employer” certificate

In January 2020, the University of Hohenheim became the first university in Baden-Württemberg to be awarded the ADFC seal of approval in silver as a “bicycle-friendly employer” for its special commitment to cycling culture. In 2023, it received the gold seal.

The following measures are planned:

Slowing down traffic and expanding the network of bike and pedestrian trails

To make the campus more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly, the University wants put a speed limit of 30 km/h on all roads through campus. In addition, it aims to eliminate dangerous spots and barriers and to improve the network of bike and pedestrian trails.
