From 10 - 23 May 2021, the Sustainability Weeks @ Universities BaWü will take place again and you are cordially invited to participate!
Our goal is to advance sustainable thinking and action at universities in Baden-Württemberg, to make existing work visible, and to motivate students to become active themselves. The Sustainability Weeks format is perfect for this: With various events and activities, sustainability moves to the center of university life, diverse perspectives can be experienced, and the impact of interdisciplinary cooperation is optimized. At the same time, the broad alliance of students intends to show that we expect more from our universities in terms of sustainability: Sustainability must be the foundation of all areas, including governance, operations, research, teaching, and transfer both internally and externally. Universities must fulfill their role model function and become pioneers in socio-ecological transformation.
In organizing the Sustainability Weeks themselves, students have the opportunity to gain a wide range of practical experience, to network, to take part in further training, to contribute their own ideas, and to help shape a sustainable future.
Do you want to get involved? Then come to the digital plenum on 4 March 2021. There will be an onboarding session starting at 7:30pm, followed by updates from the AGs and local groups starting at 8:00pm! There will be an opportunity to get to know the concept better, to exchange ideas, to clarify initial questions, and to form working groups. The event will take a maximum of 2 hours.
Let's bring higher education transformation to life! We look forward to seeing you!

The 15th Biogas Day Baden-Württemberg normally takes place on the Hohenheim campus. Due to Covid, the experts will meet online this year to share the latest innovations and trends in biogas technology. The meeting will focus on current approaches and open questions as well as on establishing new contacts and networks.
The event program will feature speakers from the Biogas Association and the University of Hohenheim. In their contributions, the specialists will talk about current findings and developments in the field of biogas. Where are biogas plants located today? What are the current requirements for the biogas industry? What funding opportunities exist for biogas plant operators under the new Bioeconomy Innovation and Investment Support Program for Rural Areas? What can sustainable business models look like? The participants of this year's Biogas Day want to discuss these and similar questions and get into discussions with each other.
The conference is organized by the Fachverband Biogas e.V. in Baden-Württemberg and the State Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioenergy at the University of Hohenheim.

Once considered a "poor man's food," buckwheat is now a hip, trendy choice. Not only does it have the reputation of being an ideal insect pasture, but it is also impossible to imagine a gluten-free diet without it. For a research project on buckwheat, Prof. Dr. Simone Gräff-Hönninger and Prof. Dr. Friedrich Longin from the University of Hohenheim, baker Steffen Leonhardt from Bretten and Marius Schlatter, managing director of Garbe in Plieningen, are testing which buckwheat varieties can also hold their own in terms of taste and processing into bread and blinis.
Taste test | Friday, 5 March, 8 - 11 a.m. |
Due to the current Covid situation, it is not possible to participate on-site.
However, the event will be accompanied on the date by the University of Hohenheim on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/unihohenheim/?hl=de
Since December, 30 students from about 15 different universities across Baden-Württemberg have been preparing this year's Sustainability Weeks @ Universities BaWü. Like last year, the goal is to raise awareness about sustainability through a variety of interesting events. And as one of many local groups, we make it possible to experience a wide variety of perspectives and approaches to sustainability at the University of Hohenheim!
We, the Sustainability Working Group, invite all interested parties for the second Hohenheim Kick-Off on 10 March at 7 p.m.
At the Kick-Off you will meet other motivated people and groups. There will be an introduction, an update on the current status, and we will gather more ideas. There are also tips on how to put on an event. So you don't need to have any previous experience!
There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to planning: Whether it's a workshop, art project, webinar, podcast, discovery tour, field trip or panel discussion, scavenger hunt, hackathon, or exhibition. You can organize a project or join the local team of the University of Hohenheim that brings the different projects together. You can also gain skills in project management, teamwork, moderation, budget planning, public relations, and much more.
We are looking forward to meeting you!

Together with our guests, we want to discuss how a pig farming business can operate successfully in the future, not only to meet new requirements, but also to secure an income for the farm manager's family and the employees.
